SSG Saenz
wounded twice by IEDs
in Iraq |
|
 |
 |
SSG Saenz caseis one of the most deserving and needy cases THFC has worked. SSG Saenz was wounded
twice by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Iraq and is being medically discharged. He also has an
eight-year old son with Downs Syndrome. We learned of this case through a national organization called
Soldiers Angels with whom I have had several subsequent contacts. In addition to our large monetary
grant, Bryan Hartwig arranged for a donation of a laptop computer by the Sparta Corp through M/G
USA Ret) Alan Johnson. Also Dennis McCormack and John Haaren gave SSG Saens wise counsel in
working with the VA.
General
Johnson, Kim, Randall & all
the other folks at Sparta,
Thank you for
forwarding the pictures with
SSG Saenz to me and for your
donation of the computer to
him. But in a far greater
measure, thank you for
making this wounded troop
feel special and
appreciated. He is a
perfect example of the many
dedicated troops in the
military today, and you took
the time to honor him.
Because of
the generous donations of
people and companies like
yours, The Home Front Cares
was able to pay bills in the
amount of over $5,000 that
the Saenz family had
incurred due to his wounding
and his handicapped son.
While this is more than we
normally give in a grant,
this is a needy and most
deserving soldier.
Warm regards,
Max Miller

3rd ACR
(Armored
Cavalry
Regiment)
These
come from
the 66th MI,
which is
deployed
with the 3rd
ACR (Armored
Cavalry
Regiment) in
Iraq from
FC. This is
the unit
that had a
fire in the
barracks
when they
were out on
patrol and
lost
everything -
and I mean
everything,
like down to
their
socks. They
asked for
help in
replacing
the items
for 28
soldiers
like
coolers,
chairs,
sleeping
pads, etc.
that were
not Army
issue, but
comfort
items that
they had
purchased
that make
life over
there a
little more
bearable.
We shipped
them 14 100
quart
coolers, 28
folding
Captains
chairs, and
28 air
mattresses
with air
pumps. We
also
replaced the
HP laptop
that they
all use to
check email
and stay in
touch with
their
families.
These are
the first
batch
of pictures
after
everything reached
them.

THFC and MMM
honor our
Defenders of
Freedom, the
troops!
"Performing
for The Home
Front Cares
ranks as my
number one
most
treasured
memory as an
entertainer.
To serve
those who
have so
bravely
served our
nation and
constitution
is an honor
that ranks
as the
highest
reward. I
highly
recommend
this
experience
to anyone
who is
willing to
put his or
her artistic
or creative
skills in
service of
our country;
any artist
who serves
The Home
Front Cares
will
remember the
experience
forever!"

From the
Department
of the Army,
Office of
the
Commander:
"You have
made a
difference
in one
Soldier's
life and
that of his
family. We,
in the 20th
Support
Command (CBRNE),
are
grateful.
Our Armed
Forces could
not continue
to be the
best in the
world
without the
support,
patriotism,
and
partnership
of
organizations
like yours.
It has
always been
difficult to
serve our
Nation and
it is even
harder today
to answer
the call
when it
could, and
often does,
take our
service
members into
harms way
during this
Global War
on
Terrorism. "
